One of the things I look at throughout my day, specially when things are a bit toxic: Barney’s note. Nope, not a musical note. You know, a good ol’fashioned note. (yes, I asked his permission if I could post this here :) He obviously said yes!)

More than getting in shape, running has taught Barney and I a thing or two.
You see, we started out a couple of weeks ago with me hanging on to him every now and then saying ‘I think I’m gonna die. I can’t breathe” Coz really — I just couldn’t breathe! After that incident, we figured we should avoid running while the sun was still up, it was really just way too hot. (excuse)
So we started running at night, and that was a bit better, but I still had to ask him if we could go to the car and get our water coz I was gonna die of thirst if I didn’t. (yeah right) I panic. A lot. Specially when I can’t breathe or when I’m super thirsty.
Then for the next run, I somehow no longer need to take a water break and our stops to walk were far less than what we were ‘normally’ doing. Plus, having my ipod with me helped a lot too, coz I focused more on the music than whatever was hurting.
Well….Now I’m super happy to tell everyone that last night, oh last night it was BIG!!! We ran our first 1 point something kilometer WITHOUT drinking water or stopping to walk for a bit…it was like run, run, run. (then walk for just a bit, like shorter than we’d usually walk and then we started running again! woohoo!)
All Barney had to do was look at me and say “let’s aim higher!” and he had his arm on my back, it wasn’t really a push. It was more of an encouraging um, push. (I couldn’t think of any other way to put it! hehe). And on we went! we just went for it and ran, ran, ran!
That really spoke to me. Running with him was like our relationship, our marriage (come December). It isn’t always gonna be a walk in the park on a nice breezy day. There are gonna be times when it’s gonna hurt, when it feels like we can’t breathe, there are gonna be times when we just want to stop running and sit down BUT as long as we see each other running, no one stopping or deciding to quit, we’re both just gonna keep at it even thru times when it hurts or when its tough. As long as we’re both running in the same direction, encouraging each other, cheering each other on, pushing whoever needs help, we’re gonna be ok — and we’ll be in shape too. :) AND the best news is, we can rest on the fact that if we ever get to that point where we’re both super low on energy and just really super thirsty, I’m sure God’s gonna be there to keep give us both a nudge AND He’ll give us all the water we need too :)

5 very powerful words…

“Thank you. I appreciate it.”

On my way to work today, Barney called me to ask how I was and where I was. Then we started talking about the time we get to spend with each other….and then he said:

 “Thank you. I appreciate it.”

My heart skipped a beat. What powerful words! To be appreciated — no wait, TO KNOW that you are appreciated because that person says so!!! It really makes a HUGE difference and impact on one’s relationship!

So…If you care for someone or if you appreciate what someone did, no matter how big or small, say it! IT’s HUGE!!!! :)

Growing up, I remember having cans and cans of tuna in our cupboard. My dad loved tuna. A lot. So, I grew up loving tuna too. A lot. Soooo….I was thrilled when Rommel and I first went to a sandwich place. His order: Tuna sandwich! He loves tuna too! A lot. It’s the only sandwich he orders whenever we go to Oliver’s or Subway! :) Yeepee! We can stock up on tuna in our cupboard too! :)

After running at The Fort the other night, Rommel and I decided to talk about Identity Crisis. Ummm…well, Rommel did all the talking. I just took the video AND tried my best not to laugh. :)
